I am proud to endorse Scott for President of The Florida Bar. Scott and I met in law school over 25 years ago. Scott’s work ethic, dependability and dedication to the practice of law has always been second to none. Scott is honest, an accomplished lawyer, dedicated, hard-working, the epitome of professionalism and committed to making the practice of law better in all ways for lawyers in this state. I have had the pleasure of working with Scott as a board member of the Sarasota County Bar Association and during my two terms as the first African-American President of the Sarasota County Bar Association. As co-founders of Sarasota County Bar Association’s Diversity Committee (now known as the Council on Diversity and Inclusion), Scott and I fought for diversity and inclusion when it wasn’t popular (more than 15 years ago). Scott has demonstrated his commitment to diversity by championing the Sarasota County Bar’s Pipeline Project and its partnership with Booker High School’s Law Academy. This effort is helping create more diversity in the Sarasota Legal community. For over 20 years Scott has given of his time and talents to serve the lawyers of this state and is the only candidate to lead our Bar through this very unique time in history. I strongly encourage you to join me in supporting my great friend, Scott Westheimer as the next President of The Florida Bar.
I wholeheartedly endorse Scott Westheimer for Florida Bar President-elect. I have worked with hundreds of Bar leaders in the more than 21 years that I have served on the Board of Governors, and Scott stands out as one of the hardest working and most thoughtful, creative and innovative leaders in our profession. Numerous Florida Bar Presidents have called on Scott to spearhead projects that have directly benefited Florida lawyers, and Scott is passionate about improving the practice of law for all. Scott is hands-down the most experienced and qualified lawyer to lead our Bar. I hope you will join me in voting for Scott Westheimer in March 2022.
Having worked with Scott on many difficult issues facing The Florida Bar, I wholeheartedly endorse him. Scott has successfully tackled many difficult tasks over the years on the Board of Governors, and was repeatedly appointed to leadership positions after earning the respect of his peers through hard work and dedication to the Bar. I worked closely with Scott on many issues when I was on the Board of Governors, and his dedication to FAWL’s mission and to the advancement of women in the legal profession is remarkable. Scott worked hand-in-hand with Bar leaders all over the state who expressed support for, and also reservations about, the Parental Leave Rule. He ensured all voices were heard and made sure that a balanced Rule was submitted to the Florida Supreme Court. I can think of no better leader of The Florida Bar!
It is an absolute pleasure to unconditionally recommend my friend Scott Westheimer as President-Elect of The Florida Bar. Scott joined the Board of Governors when I was President-Elect. He immediately hit the ground running, volunteering for all the “difficult” projects. He is highly intelligent, driven but also analyzes problems using common sense. Scott has worked his way up the leadership ladder having received The President’s Award of Merit from two different Presidents. It is very difficult to be awarded just one of these awards, but he received two. This honor alone will tell you everything you know about his pre-eminent qualifications for this challenging position. Feel free to contact me directly if you would like the longer version of this recommendation.
I cannot imagine anyone more qualified to serve as President-Elect of The Florida Bar. Scott is bright, articulate, personable, caring, and a very effective collaborative leader. I am not an attorney but served as a college president for some 32 years and worked closely with Scott for four years as a public member of The Florida Bar Board of Governors. I know the qualities of good leadership, and Scott embodies all of them. Most importantly, Scott has a deep and abiding passion for the mission and work of The Florida Bar and its members. I believe he will be an outstanding president. While I cannot vote, you can — vote for Scott Westheimer.
It has been a pleasure to watch Scott grow as a leader over the past almost 15 years, since we first served on The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors together. As a young lawyer, he was always hard-working and dedicated, but I have been extremely impressed with all he has done for The Florida Bar through his service on the Board of Governors. Scott has chaired almost every major committee of the BOG, and has done it with passion and a tempered leadership style that is difficult to find. He will be a tremendous President of The Florida Bar, and I unequivocally endorse him – and cannot wait to see all of the great things he will do.
I am supporting Scott Westheimer for president of The Florida Bar. I have had the opportunity to work with Scott on the Board of Governors since 2015 and, simply put, he is one of our hardest working members. He is intelligent, he is engaged and he is committed. The best part about Scott is that he truly enjoys serving Florida lawyers and fully accepts this responsibility. Further, I trust his judgement, and his capacity to improve a profession that is constantly changing and becoming more challenging every day. He has my full support and I request that you do so as well.
In the decade that I have known Scott, he has consistently supported the goal of equality in the legal profession through intentional leadership. As a parent to young children himself, he naturally encourages innovation and improvement of the law for all attorneys.
I am happy to add my enthusiastic endorsement of my friend Scott Westheimer in his run for President-Elect of The Florida Bar. During his many working and leadership roles within the Bar, he has demonstrated an ability to work well with his peers, and has demonstrated a genuine commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. I have watched him be an ally and champion behind the scenes where the chance for “recognition” was remote, but the opportunity to make a real and lasting difference was present. I respect him greatly.
I am proud to endorse my friend, Scott Westheimer, for Florida Bar President-Elect. Scott is an engaged and proactive member of the Florida Bar Board of Governors. His record of support for advancing diversity and inclusion demonstrates his commitment to every single Bar member. He is receptive to new ideas and welcomes feedback to improve current programs and policies. Scott is also a genuine and compassionate person. I know he will be an effective leader for The Florida Bar.
We are fortunate as a Bar to have Scott Westheimer as a leader. Scott demonstrates thoughtful judgment when presented with difficult decisions, builds consensus when facing disparate opinions, and leads when those around him are looking for solutions. While developing those skills in his service to the profession, he has also established an excellent reputation as a practicing attorney. Perhaps most importantly to me, he has done this in a relatively small firm in Southwest Florida. Join me in supporting Scott for President of The Florida Bar.
The Florida Bar is facing what could be some of the most consequential years since its foundation in 1949. Cases challenging the fundamental nature of organizations like The Florida Bar are working their way through the federal judiciary, and may ultimately be decided by the United States Supreme Court. Seasoned, dependable leadership at the helm of the Bar is more vital than ever. As someone who has practiced law for more than 50 years, served on the Board of Governors and on the board and as president of the Florida Bar Foundation, I have watched Scott Westheimer become, not only a fine lawyer, but assume positions of responsibility and leadership in our local bar and on the Board of Governors. Scott has a unique ability to gather consensus to shape a positive outcome. Without question, Scott has my full support to serve as our next Florida Bar President.
I have known Scott for more than a decade and in that time have worked closely with him on many critical Bar initiatives. Scott has helped propel our Bar into a technology focused, innovative, forward-thinking Bar that delivers practical helpful tools to Florida lawyers. He is an effective leader because he is inclusive, practical, organized, and a strong communicator. His experience, demeanor, vision, and technical know-how will lead The Florida Bar into the next generation of legal practice.
Having worked closely with Scott on the Board of Governors during my tenure as President and President-Elect of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division, I know firsthand the hard work, passion, and creativity he will bring to The Florida Bar as its President. During his time on the Board of Governors, Scott has served as the Chair of some of its most important committees including the Disciplinary Review Committee which directs the grievance system around the state, the Program Evaluations Committee which evaluates the efficacy of all bar programming, and the Communications Committee which dictates the messaging of the Bar. From his service on the Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors to now, Scott possesses deep institutional knowledge about The Florida Bar and is fully prepared to serve its members.
I have known Scott for nearly 20 years and can think of no one more qualified to represent Florida’s lawyers. I served with Scott on the Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors for many years. Even though we were both new to our profession, it was evident then that Scott had a deep desire to serve our profession and our state. From the start Scott was a considered a thoughtful visionary and deliberate in his approach to difficult issues. This reputation has continued with his service on The Florida Bar Board of Governors where he is also known for his new ideas and willingness to take on the challenges of our ever-changing practice. Scott believes in diversity and inclusivity. He is also very cognizant that the Bar needs to engage ALL our members and give them value. I know that with Scott as President of the Florida Bar the goals of diversity, inclusivity, engagement, and value will all be met. Therefore, I am proud to support Scott for Florida Bar President.
I strongly endorse Scott Westheimer for President-Elect of The Florida Bar. I served with Scott on The Florida Bar Board of Governors as President-Elect and President of the Young Lawyers Division. Scott cares about our profession and no one works harder or smarter on addressing issues attorneys are facing today. Scott has the right temperament for the job and remarkably makes time for everyone concerned about issues related to our profession. I cannot think of anyone more ready to lead The Florida Bar.
I have known Scott from our many years together on the Board of Governors. He was a leader from the moment he became a Board member. He has successfully chaired many committees of the Board, which is an indication of the respect he has earned. Other Board members seek his guidance, respect his opinions, and enjoy his leadership style. Scott is ready to become our Bar President as he would lead our colleagues with a true understanding of the needs of our membership and the course necessary to attain their objectives. I am pleased to recommend to all Bar members that they vote for Scott Westheimer for President of The Florida Bar.
